Not much new has happened with adoption stuff. Home study was almost finished on
Tuesday (WHAT???). Just waiting on
the references to arrive in the mail.
I’ve been racking my brain trying to come up with great
fundraising ideas that will help us reach our goal. I only need about 723 different fundraisers before we have
enough money.
In the meantime, I’ve been trying to
think about why our adoption story is unique and why people should want to help
us. Here are the reasons I’ve come
up with:
1.
We are wanting to adopt, care for and love 3
children. Many people adopt, but
not many people are willing to wrap their brains around adopting 3 kids at
once. However, we can't imagine breaking up this amazing sibling group. I think we may be a little
unique here…
2.
Not only are we willing to adopt 3 kids at once,
but we already have 4 biological children. In case you’re not a mathematician, I’ll do the adding for
you: 4 biological children + 3
adopted children = 7 KIDS.
Unique? Okay, maybe not as
unique (since we DO live in Utah), but still it’s pretty life altering!
3.
We are adopting older children. Many people desire to adopt young
babies or toddlers. Fewer people
consider adopting children older than 5.
And when you get up to the age of 16, those kids pretty much know that
the odds of being adopted are next to none. Our family is willing to give this 16 year old (that told us
she had never even thought about being adopted because it was so unlikely) a life with a family that can love her
and care for her (as well as her 10 year old sister and 5 year old brother). I believe that’s
pretty unique.
