These amazing friends offered to assist me in putting on a
neighborhood benefit garage/bake sale this Saturday (September 29).
In a few days, I’ll post more information on our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/TruaxAdoptionAdventure?ref=ts) and on this blog…
BUT if you live in Northern Utah, you should plan on coming and supporting our cause! Or if you have items you would like to donate to our garage sale instead of taking them to DI, we would love to accept donations! Regardless, you should come. It will be fun!
What fundraising ideas have you seen or participated in that
have been successful? I need ideas
(and unfortunately the “raffle” idea is a no-go in our wonderful state of
Utah).
I would love people to
share ideas!
I'm looking for fairly simple, draws the most attention, brings in the most money for the effort ideas!
In fact, for the best fundraising idea, we'll give away a $20 Chili's gift card!
(We'll choose the best idea by Friday, September 28.)
Ready, set, SHARE!
I could always sell monster size zucchini…
(fyi, if that's your fundraising idea, you likely won't win this give-away). :-)
While I’ve got your attention, you should check out this
awesome video that my dear friend created for our family. She is amazing (and yes, she has a beautiful
voice, but I’m talking amazing-ness that goes FAR beyond her voice!).
"It costs a lot
of money to adopt three children from a foreign country. I wanted to
help my friends in their effort and decided that I would dedicate a song
to them to help spread the word. I chose "Can't Help Falling In Love"
because it not only fits falling in love in the romantic sense, it
could also fit the love one might feel for a close friend or in this
case a child that we see for the first time that we know is going to be a
part of our family. Enjoy!"
*Check out more of her brilliance on her blog. She is a great writer as well! http://cmi1800.blogspot.com/2012/09/cant-help-falling-in-love.html
You could ask the school that your children go to, to do a coin wars. Its simple and fun!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of coin wars, so I had to google it. I told my high school daughter about it and she's going to do more research. Thanks for the idea!
DeleteMy daughter who is in 1st grade just did this fundraiser at school for a family at the school who has a child with heart disease and they raised almost $3000 in a week. The kids had a blast doing it! Her school only has about 400 students. The cool thing about it, is everyone can participate because everyone has loose change laying around.
DeleteI think we're going to try a virtual coin wars (the school that we spoke with didn't want to do it... but I think we can figure out an online version). Still haven't figured out the details... BUT I really love this idea! So... I realize that I'm later than originally planned in announcing a winner of this fundraising idea contest... but YOU ARE THE WINNER! Email me your address so I can ship off a gift card to you! And thank you SO much for your great idea!
DeleteWe need to talk to Lora Bonham because she had a fund raiser for Cystic Fibrous at Menchies. For everyone that went in they received a small donation and who doesn't like Menchies:) I will talk to her!
ReplyDeleteI would love if you talked with her! I tried to contact her a while ago about either donating a necklace for our silent auction or designing something simple and having the proceeds go toward our adoption fund, but I never was able to reach her. The menchie's idea is great, so I would love to know more!
DeleteWhat about a fun run? 1K, 5K, 10K? Seriously, I don't like running, but I know A LOT of people that do (including my parents). I'm telling you, you can just charge a simple registration fee for them to run and then set up a course. Of course there's a little more to it than that, but it's relatively simple and fun. It might not be your thing, but it could definitely work out if you wanted to try it. :)
ReplyDeleteI am currently training for a half marathon... I've tried to think of a way to turn my run into a fundraiser. We've also talked to someone about a fun run... so you are definitely on to something! Thanks for sharing such a great idea!
